Cool Smart

  • Shade: use trees, curtains and blinds to block direct heat
  • Fan: ceiling and stand fans use far less energy than AC
  • AC +1°C: raising your AC by one degree saves about 6% on your bill

Sources: the 6% per degree figure is from India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency. The fan comparison is based on typical running power: a ceiling fan draws tens of watts, a room air conditioner around a thousand or more.

One Small Thing poster: Switch It Off. Turn off lights, unplug devices, and switch off standby at the wall.
